The Picking module guides associates through fulfilling work orders as optimized trips — claiming a batch of orders, picking each item into a cart bin (Parts/Uniforms) or onto a pallet (LTL), and staging the result for packing.

Page Overview

Access this page from: Main Menu > Picking.

-
The picking workflow is broken down into a multi-step stepper designed for mobile devices, but will work on desktops:
- Picking Queue/Dashboard: View available trips and claim one.
- Claim & equipment: Review the trip, claim it, and scan your cart or forklift.
- Pick: For each pick, confirm the item, enter the quantity, then scan the bin (or place on the pallet).
- Completion & Handoff: Stage completed units for packing.

Detailed steps
1️⃣ Pick Queue
The queue shows the trips available for your active warehouse — a trip is a batch of work orders picked together.
- Trip batches: Orders are grouped into trips (by default up to ~20 orders, set per warehouse), so you pick for several orders in one path.
- Sections: Trips appear under Priority (Will-Call & Hot-Shot), Today, and Future, with your Active trip on top. Future hides while Today has work.
- Filters: Filter by type (Parts / LTL / Uniforms) and zone.
- Permissions & locking: LTL trips show only if you have the forklift-operator permission. You work one trip at a time; a claimed trip leaves other pickers' queues.
2️⃣ Claim & Equipment
Opening a trip shows a Trip Summary with collapsible Orders and Zones cards. Tap Claim to take the trip, then scan your equipment.
- Parts / Uniforms: Scan a Cart. If the trip needs more bins than the cart has, you'll see a reminder.
- LTL: Scan a Forklift or pallet jack (requires the forklift-operator permission).
- Held for the trip: Your equipment stays assigned to you until you finish or tap Release Trip.
3️⃣ Fulfillment Workflow
Into bins (Parts & Uniforms)
You pick for several orders at once, following the directed path through the zones.
- Four cards per pick: Item (verify the directed item at its location) → Quantity (enter the amount) → Bin (scan a cart bin) → Confirm.
- Recommended bin: A bin is recommended for each pick, and all items for the same order go to the same bin.
- Progress: A progress card shows how many of the trip's picks are complete.
Onto pallets (LTL)
Pallet fulfillment is optimized for forklift operators.
- Pick onto the pallet: Pick items onto your pallet as you work through the trip.
- Stage the pallet: On the last pick, scan an empty staging slot in a packing zone; the pallet is assigned there for shipping. (No label is printed during picking.)
4️⃣ Shorts & Exceptions
If you can't pick the full quantity, you record it at the Quantity step.
- Short or Zero: Use Confirm Short (less than needed) or Confirm Zero (none available); both open the exception drawer.
- Reasons: Damaged Product, Quantity Mismatch, Location Inaccessible, Safety Issue. Damaged items are moved to a Non-Compliance slot.
- What happens next: The pick is split so the remainder can be filled from a secondary location; if none exists, the pick is cancelled and completed by a warehouse transfer or supplier order.
5️⃣ Completion & Handoff
When every pick is done, an All Picks Complete panel appears.
- Assign me more picks: Claim another trip's picks without leaving the flow (when more work is available).
- Finish & stage units (Parts/Uniforms): Scan a packing-zone location to stage your cart for packing.
- LTL: The pallet is already staged from the last pick's staging-slot scan.
- Take me back: Finishing releases your equipment and returns you to the queue.
:lightbulb: User Insights
- Priority trips: Will-Call and Hot-Shot orders are set by management and jump to the top of the queue (managed on their own screens).
- One trip at a time: Finish, stage, or release your current trip before starting another.
