The put-away workflow is broken down into a multi-step stepper designed for mobile devices, but will work on desktops:
- Put-Away Queue/Dashboard: View pending put-away lists and open one to start.
- Equipment: Scan your cart (Parts) or forklift/pallet jack (LTL).
- Confirm & begin: Review the items and zones, then start.
- Put items away: For each line, scan the item, then the directed slot.
- Complete: Finish the list and release your equipment.

Detailed steps
1️⃣ Put-away queue
The queue lists the pending put-away lists for your active warehouse.
- Active vs. Pending: Lists are split into Active (in progress) and Pending, each grouped into Pallets (LTL), Carts (Parts), and Empty Pallets.
- Filters: Filter by type (All / LTL / Parts) and by zone.
- One at a time: You can only work one list at a time — while a task is active, the others are locked.
- Permissions: Pallet/LTL lists are hidden unless you have the forklift-operator permission. Tap a list to open it.
2️⃣ Equipment (Required)
Scanning equipment is the first step of every put-away.
- Parts: Scan your Cart. LTL: scan a Forklift or pallet jack (requires the forklift-operator permission).
- Must match the list: The equipment you scan must match the list's assigned equipment, or you'll see an equipment-mismatch message.
- Auto-skip: If the right equipment is already assigned to you, this step is skipped automatically.
3️⃣ Confirm and put items away
Confirm & begin
After scanning equipment, review the list before you start.
- Review summary: The confirm screen shows a summary of the Items and the Zones on the list.
- Start: Tap Confirm & Begin Put Away to claim the list and open the step-by-step flow.
Putting items away (directed)
The list is a stepper with one step per line, with a progress bar showing how many are done.
- Scan item, then slot: For each line, scan the item (or the pallet for LTL), then scan the destination slot shown under "Put away to:".
- Directed slots: The destination slot is pre-assigned by the system — you scan the slot you're directed to. There is no slot-capacity or alternative-slot prompt in the standard flow.
Returned items (recovery)
Items received as returns are handled a little differently.
- Recovery slots: Returned items are directed to a Recovery-zone slot. A suggested slot is shown, and the slot you scan must be a recovery slot.
4️⃣ Completion
Each line completes as you scan it; the task finishes when every line is done.
- Line complete: When you scan the item and its directed slot, that line is marked complete and the stepper advances.
- Put Away Complete: After the last line, a Put Away Complete screen shows an items/zones summary.
- Empty the cart: For cart (Parts) put-away, you're prompted to empty the cart at the end.
- Continue put away: Returns you to the queue and releases your equipment. (You can also Pause session at any time.)
5️⃣ Exceptions
If you can't put an item away as directed, you can raise an exception.
- Create Exception: Each active line has a Create Exception link that opens the exception drawer.
- Move to Non-Compliance: The drawer asks you to scan a Non-Compliance slot; the item is moved there and the line is completed.
- Reasons: Exception reasons are configured by your warehouse, so the available options can vary.
- You create them: Exceptions are raised by you when needed — they are not generated automatically, and there is no manager-PIN or maintenance-work-order step.
:lightbulb: User Insights
- Directed slots: The system assigns each item's destination slot; your job is to confirm it by scanning.
- One task at a time: Finish or pause your current list before starting another.
- Returns: Items received as returns are routed to recovery slots so they can be reused.
